Canada #789a, as 17c Green And Black Queen Elizabeth II, 1977-1982 Floral & Environment Issue, 4 VFNH Booklet Blocks of 6 Taken From the Larger Booklets, Various Papers and Shades

A VFNH selection of four blocks of 6 taken from the right edge of the larger booklets of 25 of the 17c green and black Queen Elizabeth II stamps from the 1977-1982 Floral & Environmental issue, printed on different papers and giving all possible straight edge and perforation combinations for the paper types represented.

The different printings represented are:

  • LF vertically ribbed paper, mottled background.
  • LF-fl vertically ribbed paper that contains a low density concentration of LF fibres and sparse concentration of MF fibres. Mottled background.
  • DF smooth paper and mottled background.
  • DF-fl vertically ribbed paper, containing a low density concentration of LF fibres. Mottled background and a deeper, brighter shade of green.

The Queen Elizabeth stamps of this series can be found printed with background colours that appear more or less even and solid, and with colours that appear mottled. Again this is not listed in Unitrade, but in my view it is a very collectible difference.

Unitrade lists the basic singles at $21.50. The blocks offered here grade between 80 and 84 as follows:

    Margins/centering: 50/70 and 54/70

    Paper freshness: 5/5

    Color: 5/5

    Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

    Perforations: 10/10
