Canada #723 50c Multicoloured Prairie Street Scene, 1977-1982 Floral & Environment Issue, 2 VFNH UL Plate Blocks on NF/LF-fl Paper, Showing Different Building Colours

Two VFNH upper left plate 1 blocks of the 50c multicoloured Prairie Street Scene stamp from the 1977-1982 Floral & Environmental issue, printed using photogravure and engraving. Printed on NF/LF-fl paper, showing orange brown and brown buildings on the right.

The paper is actually NF/NF-fl with a low density concentration of LF fibres that reads as LF-fl overall.

The shades on this vary mostly in terms of the colour of the building on the right. The colour varies from a deep brown to a bright brownish orange. The variation arises from the fact that the brown colour is obtained by mixing the bright orange with blue. So, on stamps where the blue screen is faint, the building appears orangier, and on those where the blue screen is heavier, the building appears more brownish.

Unitrade values these blocks at $15 in this grade. The blocks offered here grade between 80 and 84 as follows:

Paper freshness: 5/5

Color: 5/5

Impression: 5/5
