Canada #711a 10c Multicoloured Lady's Slipper, 1977-1982 Floral & Environment Issue, A Fine Used Example, With A Strong Leftward Shift of the Dark Green Engraving, Perf. 13 x 13.3

A fine used example of the 10c multicoloured Lady's Slipper stamp from the 1977-1982 Floral & Environment Issue, showing a strong leftward shift of the dark green engraving, perf. 13 x 13.3.

The low value stamps of this issue were printed in two stages, as evidenced from the 708xx paper crease block offered in this sale. First the flower colour and background were printed and then the sheet was fed through the press a second time to receive the engraving. This is why very minor misregistrations between the engraved detail and the flower colours, i.e less than 0.5 mm are common. Here the shift is a full 2 mm, to the left, which is less common. The scan shows a normal stamp for comparison. This stamp is printed on NF/LF paper.

Unitrade does not list colour shifts, but we estimate this stamp at $5.

The stamp offered here grades 70 as follows:

Margins/centering: 30/60

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10

Cancellations: 10/10
