Canada #1155, 1155i 1c Flying Squirrel 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue, a VFNH Group of 3 Field Stock Blocks on DF/DF Slater Paper and Dead/NF Coated Papers Paper

A VFNH group of 3 field stock blocks of the 1c flying squirrel from the 1988-1991 Wildlife and Architecture Issue. One UL corner is printed on dead/NF Coated Papers paper, while the other two are printed on DF/DF slater paper.

On this issue paper fluorescence has been completely ignored because the perception is that all the stamps are on dull paper. However, this is a bit of an oversimplification, as the pictures of some of the low value stamps will show. While it is true that the coated Slater, Harrison, Rolland and Peterborough papers are generally dull on the face, or non-fluorescent on the face, stamps on Coated Papers Paper are truly "dead" on the face most of the time and are much darker under UV than the stamps on any other paper. On the back, the papers vary from NF which is quite greyish to DF cream to a very light low fluorescence on some of the Harrison papers.

Unitrade does not list field stock blocks, but priced as singles they are $3.00 for VFNH. The blocks offered here grade between 75 and 80 as follows:

Centering/Margins 50/70 and 45/70

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
