Canada #O32 (SG#O195) $1 Grey Totem Pole 1953 Karsh Issue Plate 1 LL "G" Overprint VF-79 NH
A well centered and very fine NH example of the $1 grey Pacific Coast Totem Pole stamp from the 1953 Karsh Issue, with "G" overprint in a plate 1 lower left (LL) block of 4. No guide dot in either selvage tab, which is unusual for a lower left block. Printed on horizontal wove paper giving a dull reaction under ultraviolet light and showing clear ribbing that is very clear on the back, but not the front. Smooth, yellowish cream coloured gum. Unitrade values a VF-75 NH block at $100. The block offered here grades 79 as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Adjustment for light selvage wrinkle: - 5 points
Note: the above scan is a stock photo as are all my scans for material after 1952.The item(s) you will receive has (have) been carefully checked to adhere to the above grading standards, so while it (they) may not be exactly the same, it (they) will be of the same quality. Also, I do not provide back scans of NH stamps or blocks after 1952 unless they are required to illustrate some attribute of the paper of gum.
