Canada #J35iii (SG#D39a) 10c Carmine Red 1973 Centennial Postage Due SF GW Paper LL Block VF-80 NH
A very fine mint NH lower left inscription block of 4 of the 10c carmine red postage due stamp from the 1973-1977 Third Centennial Postage Due Issue. Vertical wove paper with no ribbing on the face and white PVA gum with an eggshell sheen. Under long-wave ultra violet light the paper gives a dull fluorescent, greyish white reaction, with sparse concentrations of low, medium and high fluorescent fibres visible in the paper. This gives the strongly speckled medium fluorescent reaction that Unitrade is referring to in their listing, although this paper is smooth, whereas Unitrade's is ribbed. This is therefore an unlisted variant of the strongly speckled paper that Unitrade lists as J35iii. Unitrade values a VF-75 NH block at $75. The block offered here grades VF-80 NH as follows:
Margins/centering: 50/70
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
Note any vertical or horizontal line shown in the scan is the edge of the acetate strip that the stamp was resting inside on the stockcard.
Note: the above scan is a stock photo as are all my scans for material after 1952.The item (s) you will receive has (have) been carefully checked to adhere to the above grading standards, so while it (they) may not be exactly the same, it (they) will be of the same quality. Also, I do not provide back scans of NH stamps or blocks after 1952 unless they are required to illustrate some attribute of the paper or gum.
