Canada #J2 (SG#D3) 2c Blackish Lilac Postage Due on 1913 Postcard from UK - XF-85
1913 black and white embossed A.H.J series postcard sent from Southend on Sea, UK to Winnipeg and depicting the Queen's Hotel at Westcliff on Sea. Sent on September 5, 1913. Franked with a single of the 1/2d green King George V profile head definitive, which shortpaid the postcard rate by 1/2d. The deficiency converted to 1c, which was then doubled and assessed by affixing a copy of J2. The GB stamp is tied by clear strike of an September 5, 1913 Southend-on-Sea double circle CDS, but the J2 is not tied. Unitrade values a F-65 cover bearing J2 at $20. The card offered here grades XF-85 as follows:
