Canada #98 (SG#190) 2c Aniline Carmine Rose Quebec Tercentenary No Visible Mesh G-45 OG
A good mint OG example of the 2c aniline carmine-rose Queen Alexandra and King Edward VII stamp from the 1908 Quebec Tercentenary Issue. Printed on vertical wove paper showing no visible mesh unless held up to a strong light source. The gum is a shiny, smooth yellowish cream. This is another clear and distinct shade and ink variety that Unitrade ignores for reasons I do not understand. The aniline nature of the ink is clear from an examination of the back of the stamp in which the colour shows through the back. Unitrade values a F-65 OG example at $15. The stamp offered here grades 45 as follows:
Centering/margins: 35/70
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
Adjustment for strong horizontal crease: -20 points
