Canada #92i (SG#181) 7c Greenish Bistre Edward VII Toned Vertical Wove Paper With No Mesh F-70 OG
Canada #92i (SG#181) 7c Greenish Bistre Edward VII Toned Vertical Wove Paper With No Mesh F-70 OG
A well centered and fine mint OG example of the 7c greenish bistre King Edward VII stamp from the 1903-1911 issue of the same name. Printed on the toned vertical wove paper showing no visible mesh unless held up to a strong light source. The toned paper is found on several values of this set and from observation of dated cancellations on used stamps, it appears to have originated from the 1905-1907 period. The gum is smooth, satin and yellowish cream, and has the appearance of being "sponged on". This is characteristic of the gum on the toned papers and the late printings of the 1898-1902 Numeral issues. Unitrade values a F-65 OG example at $200. The example offered here grades 70 as follows:
Centering/margins: 50/70
Paper freshness: 0/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
