A very fine NH plate 8 upper right block of the 8c deep blue Queen Elizabeth II stamp from the 1973-1977 Caricature Issue, showing partial "ghost" tagging bars on the back underneath the gum. Printed on vertical wove paper with no ribbing. The paper gives a non fluorescent blue grey reaction under ultraviolet light on the front, and a non-fluorescent greyish reaction on the back. General OP-2 Ottawa tagging, 4 mm wide, of moderate strength (clearly visible to the naked eye, but not dark), and glowing a bright yellow under ultraviolet light. The comparison scan shows the appearance of the ghost bars on the back as compared to a normal block that does not have them. Comb perforated 12.0 x 12.5. Smooth, creamy PVA gum with a satin sheen. Unitrade lists 593vii as NF paper and seems to suggest that only plate 7 exists with this paper. This is not correct, as this plate 8 block is on paper that matches many others on NF paper. I have also found at least six varieties of NF paper, which all differ slightly from one another. Unitrade values a VF-75 NH block, without the ghost tag bars at $12. The block offered here grades 75 as follows: Margins/centering: 45/70 Paper freshness: 5/5 Colour: 5/5 Impression: 5/5 Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5 Perforations: 10/10 Note: the above scan is a stock photo as are all my scans for material after 1952. The item(s) you will receive has (have) been carefully checked to adhere to the above grading standards, so while it (they) may not be exactly the same, it (they) will be of the same quality. Also, I do not provide back scans of NH stamps or blocks after 1952 unless they are required to illustrate some attribute of the paper or gum.
