Canada #592iii (SG#699) 7c Deep Brown St. Laurent 1972-1978 Caricature Issue DF Paper Type 3 & 7 VF-75 NH
Two very fine NH singles of the 7c sepia and deep brown Louis St. Laurent stamps from the 1973-1977 Caricature Issue, each printed on a different paper. General OP-2 Ottawa tagging, 4 mm wide, of very weak strength (almost invisible to the naked eye), and moderate strength (clearly visible to the naked eye, but not dark) and glowing a bright yellow under ultraviolet light. The paper gives different reactions under UV light as follows:
- The deep brown stamp is on a vertical wove paper with a smooth, burnished surface texture. Under UV light, the paper gives a dull fluorescent bluish white reaction on the front, and a low fluorescent bluish white reaction on the back. Tagging is of very weak strength, and the gum is white PVA with a satin sheen.
- The sepia stamp is on vertical wove paper that has a burnished smooth surface on the printed surface. Under UV light, the paper gives a non fluorescent blue grey reaction on the face, and a dull fluorescent blue grey reaction on the back. Tagging is of moderate strength and the gum is a creamy PVA with a satin sheen.
