Canada #591iii (SG#698) 6c Scarlet Pearson 1972-1978 Caricature Issue LF Paper Types 9, 12 & 15 VF-75 NH
Three very fine NH singles of the 6c scarlet and bright scarlet Lester Pearson stamps from the 1973-1977 Caricature Issue, each printed on a different LF paper. General OP-2 Ottawa tagging, 4 mm wide, of light strength (barely visible to the naked eye) and glowing a bright yellow under ultraviolet light. Smooth creamy PVA gum with a satin sheen. The paper gives different reactions under UV light as follows:
- A scarlet stamp is on a vertical wove paper with a burnished smooth surface texture. Under UV light, the paper gives a dull fluorescent greyish reaction on the front, with a low density concentration of low fluorescent fibres, a sparse concentration of medium fluorescent fibres, and a very sparse concentration of high fluorescent fibres visible. On the back the paper gives a low fluorescent bluish reaction, with a low density concentration of low fluorescent fibres and a sparse concentration of medium fluorescent fibres, being visible in the paper.
- A bright scarlet stamp is on vertical wove paper with a burnished smooth surface texture. Under UV light, the paper gives a dull fluorescent blue grey reaction on the front, with a low density concentration of low fluorescent fibres, a very sparse concentration of medium fluorescent fibres and a very sparse concentration of brownish woodpulp fibres visible. On the back the paper gives a low fluorescent bluish grey reaction, with a low density concentration of low fluorescent fibres and a very sparse concentration of medium fluorescent fibres, being visible in the paper.
- A bright scarlet stamp is on vertical wove paper that shows a burnished smooth surface. Under UV light, the paper gives a dull fluorescent bluish white reaction on the front and back, with a low density concentration of low fluorescent fibres, a very sparse concentration of medium fluorescent fibres, and a very sparse concentration of brownish woodpulp fibres visible in the paper.
