Canada #589 (SG#696) 4c Black King 1972-1978 Caricature Issue LF Paper Type 10 Pair On First Day Cover SUP-97

A superb unaddressed official first day cover of the 4c black William Lyon Mackenzie King stamp from the 1973-1977 Caricature Issue, with pair affixed. Printed on smooth wove paper showing no ribbing. The paper gives a low fluorescent bluish white reaction under ultraviolet light, sparse concentration of low fluorescent fibres,a very sparse concentration of medium fluorescent fibres, and a sparse concentration of brownish woodpulp fibres being visible in the paper. General OP-2 Ottawa tagging, 4 mm wide, of moderate strength (clearly visible to the naked eye, but not dark), and glowing a bright yellow under ultraviolet light. Comb perforated 12.0 x 12.5. Unitrade lists #589 as LF paper, but I have found at least 18 varieties of the fluorescence and tagging that most closely fit this classification. This is one of these variations. The envelope stock gives a low fluorescent bluish white reaction under UV, with a low density concentration of medium fluorescent fibres being visible in the paper. Unitrade values a VF-75 cover at $0.85 for the basic LF paper as a pair, and does not value any of the paper varieties on FDC.
