An extremely fine example of the 5c deep brown 1965 Ottawa Centenary Issue First Day Cover. Black and white Art Craft cachet depicting a maple leaf and industry. The envelope is on stock giving a dull fluorescent light violet reaction, with a low density concentration of medium fluorescent fibres visible in the paper, while the stamp is printed on paper giving a dull fluorescent greyish white reaction under ultraviolet light. The stamp is tied by a crisp strike of an Ottawa wavy line first day cancel. The cover offered here grades XF-91 as follows:

Intactness of the cover: 25/25

Paper freshness from the front: 20/25

Paper freshness from the back: 8/10

Condition of the paper and edges: 15/15

Appearance of the handwriting: 5/5 (unaddressed)

Clarity of the postal markings: 15/15

Condition of the stamps: 3/5

Unitrade lists a Rosecraft or Artcraft cachet for a single stamp, on dull paper, on cover for $2. Note: the above scan is a stock photo as are all my scans for material after 1952. The cover you will receive has been carefully checked to adhere to the above grading standards, so while it (they) may not be exactly the same, it (they) will be of the same quality.
