Canada #439i (SG#564) 1965 5c Canadian Flag Issue Plain Addressed First Day Cover XF-92
Canada #439i (SG#564) 1965 5c Canadian Flag Issue Plain Addressed First Day Cover XF-92
An extremely fine example of the 5c blue and deep red 1965 Adoption of the Canadian Flag Issue Addressed First Day Cover. No cachet. The envelope is paper giving a low fluorescent bluish white reaction and with a sparse concentration of medium and high fluorescent fibres visible in the paper. The stamp is printed on paper giving a dull fluorescent bluish white reaction under ultraviolet light, with a very sparse concentration of low and medium fluorescent fibres visible in the paper. The stamp is tied by a crisp strike of an Ottawa wavy line first day cancel. The cover offered here grades XF-92 as follows:
Intactness of the cover: 25/25
Paper freshness from the front: 25/25
Paper freshness from the back: 10/10
Condition of the paper and edges: 10/15
Appearance of the handwriting: 4/5
Clarity of the postal markings: 15/15
Condition of the stamp: 3/5
Unitrade lists a Rosecraft or Artcraft cachet for a single stamp, on dull paper, on cover for $2. Unitrade does not list the fluorescent paper on FDC, but a reasonable value would be $2, given that there is no cachet and the cover is addressed. Note: the above scan is a stock photo as are all my scans for material after 1952. The cover you will receive has been carefully checked to adhere to the above grading standards, so while it (they) may not be exactly the same, it (they) will be of the same quality.
