Canada #OL23P 70c Green 1864 Ontario Law Issue Proof F.F Overprint VF-84

A lovely fresh right sheet margin example of the plate proof of the 70c green Justice stamp from the Ontario 1864 Law Stamp Issue. Showing full American Bank Note Company imprint. Printed on India paper, mounted on card with yellow FF overprint. The overprint additionally shows a variety. While the right stop after the F is level with the base of the letters, the left stop is clearly raised. Unlisted in Van Dam, but most imprint copies of proofs issued in this period sell for between $100-$150 if they have full margins and imprints like this one. The proof offered here grades VF-84 as follows:
