New Brunswick #9 (SG#17) 10c Vermilion Queen Victoria Cents Issue Perf. 12 x 11.75 VG-55 OG

Sold out

A fresh and very good centered mint example of the 10c vermilion Queen Victoria stamp from the 1860-1867 Cents Issue. Full original gum. Crisp, hard paper and perf. 12 x 11.75. Unitrade values a F-65 example at $35. Unitrade's grading on this issue is less stringent than for other issues. What would normally be VG is considered by Unitrade to be fine. I do not use a relative grading system in order to avoid confusion. So, even though I grade this in absolute terms as a VG stamp, the appropriate catalogue price upon which to base the selling price is fine. The stamp offered here grades 55 as follows:

Centering margins: 30/70

Paper freshness: 2/5

Printing impression: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 3/5 (tiny spot on cheek)

Perforations: 10/10
