New Brunswick #8a 5c Blue Green Queen Victoria, 1860-1867 Cents Issue, A Very Fine Unused Pair of the Perf. 12

SKU Lot51

A very fine unused pair of the 5c blue green Queen Victoria stamp from the 1860-1867 Cents Issue. Perf. 12. No gum, as are most examples of these stamps, due to the fact that they were stored at the Custom House in Saint John, which burned down in 1891. The stamps stored there became stuck together and had to be soaked apart. As a result, the 1c, 2c, 5c values especially are hardly ever found with gum. Unitrade values this pair in this grade at $80 for OG, so unused should be worth $40. The stamp offered here grades 75 as follows:

Centering/margins: 45/70
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
