SKU Lot42

A very good used example of the 50c deep ultramarine Queen Victoria stamp from the 1897 Diamond Jubilee Issue, With Unlisted Extensive Re-Entry. Unitrade does not list any re-entries for this value and Trimble states that many slip-prints exist. However, as evidenced by the clear doubling of the letters of value and the shading lines on the young Queen's neck, this is no slip-print. It is a major re-entry involving many elements of the design, as shown in the high resolution scans. It is cancelled by a Toronto Union St. roller, as are a lot of the high values of this issue. Unitrade does not list this re-entry, but other listed re-entries of this period that are of this calibre typically list for $300-$400 for fine. So, in this grade it should be worth approximately $150. The stamp offered here grades 63 as follows:

Centering/margins: 30/60
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 8/10
Cancellation: 5/10
