SKU Lot26

A very fine used example of the 3c deep rose carmine Queen Victoria stamp from the 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue. This is the Montreal Gazette printing that was made in the fall of 1888 after the Monteal printing works had burned down, and before the printing was moved to Ottawa for the second time. It is printed on vertical wove paper and is perf. 12 x 12.25. This is also a nice misperf, which shows a portion of the adjoining stamp at left. Were this not visible it would just be a poorly centered stamp, but like this it is a nice variety. Not listed in Unitrade, but should be worth $40. The stamp offered here grades 80 as follows:

Centering/margins: 40/60 (top to bottom alignment)
Paper freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
Cancellation: 10/10
