A very fine complete cover with letter franked with the 3c orange red Queen Victoria stamp from the 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue. Sent from St. Thomas to an army commander on September 13, 1880. Franked with a bright orange red 3c small queen that is tied by a 2-ring #58 cancel for St. Thomas (rarity factor 3). Indistinct arrival backstamp. The letter is included and is basically a conversation between two commanding officers about the future of the batallion. A fascinating piece of history. Unitrade only values a basic cover, but covers with original contents are worth considerably more. Est. $35-$40.
