Canada #325a/364 1c Violet Brown - 5c Olive Grey and Vermilion, Queen Elizabeth & House on Fire, 1953-54 Karsh, 1954-62 Wilding & 1956 Fire Prevention Issue, Three 15c Airmail Covers to France All Sent Between 1954 and 1956, Interesting Frankings
A very fine and fine group of three 15c airmail covers to France, all sent between July 1954 and November 1956, and each with a different franking.
Unusual because:
- One cover was originally franked with complete 1c and 4c Karsh chewing gum booklet panes. Once 4c stamp has since come off the cover, but this is still a highly unusual was to pay the 15c airmail rate.
- One cover uses a combination of a pair of 5c Fire Prevention stamps and a 5c Wilding to pay the postage, rather than just definitives.
Our estimate of the value of these covers based on the above factors is $20. To understand how we have assessed the covers and arrived at this estimate and to gain a broader understanding of postal history collecting, I would suggest you read the article linked here. It should clarify the factors that make covers, and this one in particular scarce, and will help you to understand why we have estimated it at this amount.
