Lot 60 Canada #73ii 10c Brown Violet Queen Victoria, 1897-1898 Maple Leaf Issue, A Very Fine Used Single On Horizontal Wove Paper

A very fine used single of the 10c brown violet Queen Victoria from the 1897-1898 Maple Leaf Issue on horizontal wove paper. This is one of the niver used examples of this stamp I have seen, especially the horizontal wove paper, which is MUCH scarcer than the vertical wove on this value. Far and away most 10c stamps you will come across are on vertical wove paper, and when used, most will be cancelled with roller or smudge cancels. Only 300,000 of this value were originally printed, so the number of surviving VF used examples must be very small. I would say it is probably one of the top 10 stamps issued after the Small Queens to find in VF used condition, in terms of difficulty.
