Lot 57 Great Britain 1984 Annual Hardcover Post Office Year Book Containing All The Commemorative Stamps For the Year, Gibbons Cat. 42 GBP = Approximately $71

A 24 page limited edition hardcover book, with slipcase that contains spaces for all the commemorative stamps for the year, and also contains a sealed pack containing all the mint commemorative stamps to go in the album. Beautifully illustrated, with all the background information about the stamp production and the subject matter.

These books were first produced in 1983, and each book is numbered on the spine. The earlier books range between 24 and 40 pages, increasing to between 51 and 57 pages in 1996, and finally to 64 pages for all books issued on or after 2003. In this year the Royal Mail also printed the total number produced and the book number on the inside flyleaf. The number produced in 2003 was 35,000 copies and the number has decreased each year, so that by 2015 it was 10,000 copies each year. The earlier books were probably printed in quantities greater than 35,000, most likely in the low 100,000 range. However, these are not large numbers when compared to the issue quantities of the stamps. In our opinion, these are going to become highly collectible in the future, because they were largely ignored by collectors and dealers. They are of very high quality, bring printed on heavy paper, in full colour and with strong bindings. The are an excellent way to collect the modern commemorative issues of Great Britain, and all of them make an excellent gift for the experienced collector and beginner alike.

Gibbons lists this book at 42 pounds, which is approximately $71.4.

Please note that due to the weight we will be charging actual cost of shipping in addition to the hammer price. For the larger 64 page books that weigh almost 1 kg, the cost to ship airmail in Canada and the US is approximately $25 while international is approximately $45. Priority shipping will cost approximately double. Please note however, that the cost to ship multiple books will be much less than the cost to ship 1 book times the number of books. If you would like an approximate quote prior to bidding, please send us an e-mail at info@brixtonchrome.com, and we will provide one. If you are buying it as a gift, we can arrange to giftwrap it and ship it directly to the recipient. Please let us know by e-mail your request and we will accomodate.
