Lot 5 Canada #1226, 1228 1988 Charles Inglis & Angus Walters, A Group of 5 Plate Block Canada Post First Day Covers, All Signed

Sold out
SKU Lot 5 July 14, 2021

Five official Canada Post first day covers for the Charles Inglis and Angus Walters Issues, each bearing a plate block of the stamp issue, and signed as follows;

  • 1226 is signed in the margins of the block by the stamp designers and then on the face of the cover by important members of the Anglican church in Canada.
  • 1228 is a matched plate block set, each signed by the grandson of Angus Walters, BJ "Spike" Walters.
  • Envelopes are all DF.

Unitrade does not make any mention of the fluorescence level of the envelopes used to produce them. The envelopes are an integral component of the FDC's produced and a study of the covers produced does show that there are often quite dramatic differences in the fluorescent qualities of the envelopes used. So, we mention them here for the sale of being thorough.

The covers are all clean and VF. Unitrade cat, $19.75, based on the price of mint plate blocks, as Unitrade does not list FDC's for plate blocks, though generally unaddressed FDC's are mint items that are still valid for postage, so their catalogue value if they were to be listed would be tied very closely to the price of the mint plate blocks.

Please note that we will charge actual postage costs on all first day cover lots.
