Lot 495 Canada #337ii, vii, p, iii, iv, xx, xxi, aivs, aiis 1c Violet Brown Queen Elizabeth II, 1954-1962 Wilding Issue, 9 Fine & VF Used Singles & 1 Booklet Pair, With Nearly All The Scarce Sheet & Booklet Stamps
9 fine & VF used singles & 1 booklet pair of the 1c violet brown Queen Elizabeth II from the 1954-1962 Wilding Issue. With nearly all the scarce sheet & booklet stamps. Includes: booklet pair on MF paper, plus a single; Winnipeg tagged on DF paper and then in a lighter, brighter shade on HB paper, a booklet single on LF paper, two precancels on the vertical ribbed paper, in two shades with the brighter of the two on unlisted fluorescent paper, and then the precancel on the DF horizontally ribbed paper. Finally we have the Winnipeg Tag on fluorescent paper, and the untagged printings on fluorescent and hibrite papers. These stamps are all MUCH tougher than you can imagine: 95% of mint lots out there WILL NOT have them. Why? Because the speckled fluorecscent paper did not appear until 1959-1960 and the full fluorescent and HB papers did not appear until late 1962, and the set was replaced by the Cameo issue in May 1963. So, these papers had a very short window of use, and it would appear that most all were used for postage.
Unitrade values this at $55. The stamps offered here grade 68-84 as follows:
