Lot 459 Canada #C3var 6c on 5c Olive Brown Winged Figures & Globe, 1932 Surcharged Airmail Issue, A VFNH Single Vertical Scratch Through & Dot Below "C" Of Canada
A VFNH single of the 6c on 5c olive brown Winged Figures & Globe from the 1932 Surcharged Airmail Issue vertical scratch through & dot below "C" of Canada. This is an interesting variety that I have not yet seen on this stamp. The stamps of this period are not reknown for having a lot of plate varieties, largely owing to the durability of the plates after the introduction of Nickel-Chromium plating of the printing oplates. I've only ever found 2 or three plate flaws on this design in the past, and this is an entirely new variety.
Unitrade values this at $30 for the basic stamp. Our estimate of the value with the variety is $50. The stamp offered here grades 75 as follows:
Centering/Margins: 45/70
Paper Freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
