A VF used example of the from the 1922-1923 Inflation Period Airmail Issue, SON September 29, 1922 Berlin CDS cancel. No guarantee handstamp on this one, but I am 99.99% sure that this is a legitimate postal cancel, based on several factors. First is that the cancel is struck fairly heavily and the cancel bleeds into the paper somewhat. This is a general characteristic common to nearly all legitimate postally used stamps of this period. The vast majority of CTO cancels are too light and too crisp, or are not even on most of the stamp. The date of the cancel contains an "N" at the end. Nearly all legitimate cancels contain either a N or a V at the end of the date line. The ink is an oily grey-black, which the legitimate ink generally is also, with the fake cancels or posthumous ones usually being done in ink that is too black and lacks the oiliness of the inflation period ink. 2022 Scott Classic Cat $105.
