Lot 435 Canada #720var 30c Multicoloured Red Oak, 1977-1982 Floral & Environment Issue, A VFNH LL Plate Block On DF2/LF4 Paper, Guide Dot In Margin Below "N" Of Canada, Possibly Tertiary, Finely Screened Grey Violet Background

A VFNH LL plate block of the 30c multicoloured Red Oak from the 1977-1982 Floral & Environment Issue on DF2/LF4 paper, guide dot in margin below "n" of Canada, possibly tertiary, finely screened grey violet background. Harris discusses the guide dots found on the 75c Quebec street scene, but does not discuss them on the 30c. However, as this lot and lots 437 & 439 will show, both black and red guide dots are found at various positions on some sheets, both in the margins between stamps, and in the selvedge. On this block, there is a black guide dot in the margin under the "N" of "Canada" (pos. 32). This could be either a tertiary variety, or a freak. More study would be necessary to establish which it is.

Unitrade does not list this variety. Our estimate of the value is $10. The block offered here grades 75 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 45/70

Paper Freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
