Lot 425 Canada #390var 5c Brown & Dark Blue Dollard Des Ormeaux, 1960 Battle of Long Sault Issue, A VFNH Single Significant Downward Shift Of Vignette, DF Smooth Paper

A VFNH single of the 5c brown & dark blue Dollard Des Ormeaux from the 1960 Battle of Long Sault Issue. Significant downward shift of vignette, DF smooth paper. On this stamp the normal placement of the brown background has the elbow of the native at lower left about 0.5 mm above the first "6" of "1660". The spear of the native at upper left is clearly visible within the "C" of Canada, and the top of the heads of the two native figures at upper right, touches, or comes very close to the inner curve of the "5". On a moderate downward shift, the elbow will touch the top of the "6", the spear will drop below the C, so it is no longer protruding inside it, and the top of the heads of the two figures at upper right will come about half way up the inside of the "5". On a very significant downward shift, the elbow will drop to well below the top of the "6", the spear won't even touch the "C" and the top of the heads of the two figures will be at the inside bottom of the "5".
