Lot 398 Canada #Type 2 Multicoloured Various Planetary Scenes, 1962 Interplanetary Postal Essays, A VFNH Sheet Of 12 Produced By Modern Publications, St. Catherines, Imperf Along Bottom Of Sheet
A VFNH sheet of 12 of the multicoloured Various Planetary Scenes from the 1962 Interplanetary Postal Essays produced by Modern Publications, St. Catherines, imperf along bottom of sheet. These were based on popular British Comic book hero of the 1950's Dan Dare. In 1953 a set of 32 interplanetary postage stamps was issued to promote Lever Brothers soap. In the late 1950's two American stamp dealers, Tatham Stamp Company and Avalon Stamp Company both reprinted some of these to promote their businesses. Then, in 1962 these were produced by Modern Publications Ltd., a firm in St. Catherines. The sheets are ordinarily perforated on all 4 sides, but this one is missing the perfs on the bottom of the sheet.
Lafreniere values this at $7.5 for a normal sheet. Our estimate of the value for this sheet missing the bottom perfs is $30. The sheet offered here grades 75 as follows:
Centering/Margins: 45/70
Paper Freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
All full sheets of Christmas Seals are fragile, due to the nature of the paper used to print them, and therefore may contain a few perf separations on the sheet. This is normal, and does not constitute grounds for return. Similarly, sheets may have been folded at one time. Again, unless it is obvious to us that the sheet has been folded, we make no representations as to whether the sheets have been folded or not.
