Lot 386 Canada #F2a 5c Blue Green Engine Turning, 1875-1897 Registered Letter Stamps, A VF Used Example Second Ottawa Printing on Thin Vertical Wove With a Pre-Printing Crease

A VF used example of the 5c blue green engine Turning from the 1875-1897 Registered Letter Stamps second Ottawa printing on thin vertical wove with a pre-printing crease. The crease on this stamp, which runs diagonally through it, arose during printing, as the lines of the printing line up perfectly with the crease and if it is carefully flattened out, there will be a large white printing void. We haven't done that here because the soft wove paper is fragile and we do not wish to risk tearing the stamp in half.

Unitrade values this at $15. The stamp offered here grades 78 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 40/60

Paper Freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 8/10

Cancellation: 10/10
