A fine mint OG example of the 1/2d on 2.5d purple on blue carmine Queen Victoria Jubilee Issue of Great Britain, overprinted with the green overprint type with irregular sized sans-serif letters, from the 1893 Old Calabar provisional issue. Although there are forgeries on the market of these, the genuine surcharges are usually fairly easy to identify by the colours of the overprint inks. The colour of the green ink here is characteristic of the genuine overprint, in its brightness and the letters show the usual imperfections of the genuine.

2022 Scott Classic values a mint OG example at $275 USD.

The stamp offered here grades F-70 as follows:

Margins/centering: 40/70

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
