A very fine Maritime & Newfoundland Airways flight cover; signed by J.R Mcgowan, the director of the company. The company had formed in 1930 to carry mail between Newfoundland, St. Pierre & North Sydney, NS. A Flight was organized in August 1931, but all covers were seized by the authorities and held for 3 years. They were eventually returned to collectors in 1934, but beforehand they were stamped with a large cachet explaining their problems and a circular design
