A very fine and beautiful illustrated circular sent by Edgerton Ryerson, the superintendant of Education and the namesake of the formerly named Ryerson university. The circular contains department notices respecting the creation of public libraries, including prison libraries. It was stamped with a Chatham CDS when received on December 31, 1862, and then again on January 2, 1863 when forwarded by the post office in Chatham. Franked with a trimmed 1c Deep rose, perf. 11.75 that is cancelled by a smudgy grid cancel, but is not tied. Cat $150 in Unitrade. Net. Est. $100.
