SKU Lot 305 June 23, 2021

A fine OG example of the 5c bright green Queen Victoria from the 1860-1867 Cents Issue perf. 12. Printed on medium vertical wove paper with no clear mesh.. This example has gum which is unusual, as the vast majority of the unused examples on the market today. The reason is that the remainders, from which most of the mint examples come, were stored at the Custom House in Saint John, and this was destroyed by fire in 1891, resulting in most examples losing their gum. There is a small pinpoint scuff at the base of the design, which reduces the grade from VF to fine.

Unitrade values this at $7.5. The stamp offered here grades 70 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 50/70

Paper Freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 0/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
