Lot 270 - One Red Box Full Of Mint & Used China - Taiwan & PRC
One red box with about 530 or so 102 card-like sleeves containing mint and used Taiwan and PRC. The PRC starts in the late 50's, after the reprint period, and goes to the late 1990's. Up to 1992, the material is mostly used or CTO, and afterward it is MNH, with duplication of up to 3 of each single or set. The used are generally low value in the 40c to 75c range, and so none of the expensive Cultural Revolution items are here. The Taiwan starts with the Chang Kai Shek definitives from 1949 and continues into the early 90's. Nearly all of the stamps are used, with an average of 2 stamps per card. Cancels are the fairly typical heavier CDS's on some issues, but that being said there are plenty of lightly cancelled stamps as well. Most stamps in this part catalogue 25c each. ,
Duplication is moderate, with some cards having 4-6 stamps and maybe 40% having just one stamp, so overall on average, the cards can be reckoned as having 2 stamps each.
Based on this there are approximately 1,000 stamps, not including the mint PRC. At an average of 25c per stamp, on average, it is worth about $250, plus about another $30 for the mint NH. At 10% of Catalogue, a reasonable estimate of value would be about $28.
Shipping will be about $15-$20 within Canada.
