Lot 234 Canada #1155ii, 1156i, 1160, 1181ii, iv, 1182iii-iv $1-$2 High Value Definitive, 1988-1992 Mammal and Architecture Issue, Combination Use of the CBN Reprints on Three $3.38 Registered Domestic Covers
Three domestic registered covers, all sent March, April and September 1993, and all franked with $3.38 postage. Each has a different combination of stamps making up the rate, and in each case the printings of the $1 and $2 definitives used are different:
• The March 1993 cover is franked with Ashton Potter printings of the 6c (pair) and 25c berries, and a single 1c Flying Squirrel on Coated Papers paper, plus the scarcer October 1992 reprints of both the $1 and $2.
• The June 1993 cover is franked with an Ashton Potter printing of the 25c Saskatoon Berry, the 1c and 2c on Coated Papers paper, the 10c skunk on Slater paper, plus the October 1992 reprints of the $1 and $2.
• The September 1993 cover is franked with Ashton Potter printings of the 1c, 10c and 25c berries, 2c porcupine on Coated Papers paper, plus the July and August 1992 reprints of the $1 and $2. These both have the random dot pattern in the lower 2/3 of the designs and the thicker green header and roof rails.
Very fine. Nice usages of these scarce reprints. Net est. $35.
The Mammal and Architecture definitive issue is the subject of this week's blog post. You are encouraged to go here to find more information about the paper, shade, gum and fluorescence varieties that are described here, that are not in Unitrade. There you will find all of the information that you need in one place. That post will be published by the end of the day on Friday, December 16, 2022.
