Lot 198 Morocco Agencies - French Currency SG#182-186 5c-40c Pale Orange - Ultramarine King George VI, 1952 Overprinted King George VI Colour Changes, A VF Used Complete Set With Genuine Morocco Cancels
A VF used complete set of the 5c-40c pale orange - ultramarine King George VI from the 1952 Overprinted King George VI Colour Changes with genuine Morocco cancels. These stamps have genuine Morrocco cancels, as evidenced by the inclusion of the words "British Post Office" in the cancel indicta. The stamps of Morocco Agencies, except for the French and Spanish Currencies were valid for use in the UK after 1950, and quite frequently the used stamps found on the market are with UK cancels, rather than Morocco ones. Because of this, Scott values for used are wildly different from Gibbons values, because Gibbons prices genuine Morocco cancels, whereas Scott does not.
Gibbons values this at 65 pounds = approximately $111.15. Our estimate of the net value is $52. The stamps offered here grade between 75 and 84 as follows:
Centering/Margins: 35/60, 40/60 and 44/60
Paper Freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
Cancellation: 10/10
