Lot 17 - 1949 White Ace Educator World Stamp Album
A slightly worn on the outside but lovely bicoloured world stamp album from 1949, bu White Ace. This album has pages that contain a black and red border that is very early modern in terms of aesthetic. Most coutries have 1 page, with the smaller territories being confined to 1/4 of a page. A few hundred pages with spaces for up to 64 stamps on a page. The spaces are a mixture of printed spaces and blank ones. Like most of these types of albums, the spaces are for more moderately priced stamps, but this would be ideal for a collector wanting to form a world mint collection of nice stamps without breaking the bank. The highlight for me is the colour atlas at the front that shows colonial Africa, Oceania and Asia as they were in 1949, which is useful for those wanting to learn their pre-independence geography. Contains a small number of mint and used stamps, with most of the mint being stuck down. My suggestion would be to remove the used stamps and simply mount over the stuck down stamps. I'd use mounts because the pages are likely not acid free. A lovely album, despite the wear on the cover. Est. $25.
Please note that for bulky items we will be charging actual shipping cost, rather than the usual first class letter rate. We would be happy to supply estimates of what the shipping cost will be if you tell us which items you are planning to bid on. Usually, we bill the estimate and then either refund or re-bill the difference after we return from the post office. Generally Canada Post's rates are most expensive for parcels between 3 pounds and about 15 pounds. Once you go above 15 pounds up to the 70 pound maximum, the price levels off at between $50-$75 within Canada, whereas a parcel that weighs 3 pounds can be $25. So the more you buy the cheaper the shipping gets on a per item basis. So, if you need supplies this may be the time to stock up at bargain prices.
