Lot 169 Canada #621var 15c Multicoloured Queen Elizabeth II 1973 Royal Visit, 1 Rosecraft First Day Covers Franked With Single, Tagging Nearly Omitted Cachets, DF Paper, Cat. Value $1.4
A Rosecraft First Day Covers franked with single. Generally all VF. The paper fluorescence of the stamps DF. The tagging is nearly omitted, due to dry inking of the tagging roller. There are traces visible under a loupe, but no clearly visible tagging. The cover is unaddressed. Unitrade catalogue value for the basic covers is $1.4. Our estimate of the value after adding appropriate premiums is $10.
A note about how we calculated Dickinson Catalogue values in conjunction with Unitrade. Dickinson does not list paper varieties on FDC's, nor do they price anything other than a single. FDC's are typically regarded as being similar to mint stamps in the sense that if they are unaddressed, they are still valid for postage. So, that is why the FDC price in Unitrade is typically slightly more than a mint single. That being the case, what we have done where we have a better paper variety on an FDC is we have taken the Dickinson catalogue value and added the mint value of the paper variety to the FDC price. If there is a pair or a block, we have added the Unitrade value of the extra stamps to the Dickinson cover price.
