A very fine used example of the 1/2d on 4d lilac from the 1893 Queen Victoria Surcharged Issue, extremely rare double surcharge type 7 of variety 2(16.5mm surcharge). Bicolored, Perf 14 Comb, Crown CA Wmk. This surcharge comes from the 6th printing, which produced variety 2(16.5mm vs 16mm). On type 7 the top overprint bar is 17mm, while the bottom is 16.5mm. On this example there is very clear doubling of the bars. Fewer than 1,100 type 7 are thought to exist, and the number doulbed must be very small. Our estimate of the value based on the condition is $250.
