Lot 126 Canada #660/661ii 8c Multicoloured Marguerite Bourgeoys & Alphonse Desjardins 1975 Canadian Personalities Issue, 5 S.C.S First Day Covers Franked With Singles, DF and LF Paper, Cat. Value $15
A group of 5 S.C.S First Day Covers franked with singles. Generally all F/VF. The paper fluorescence of the stamps is DF for all covers except one cover of the Desjardins issue, which is LF. All covers except for one are addressed. The Marguerite Bourgeoys issue is on both the ribbed and smooth DF paper. The Alphonse Desjardins issue includes all three listed paper types. Dickinson/Unitrade catalogue value for the basic covers is $15. Our estimate of the value after adding appropriate premiums is $24.
A note about how we calculated Dickinson Catalogue values in conjunction with Unitrade. Dickinson does not list paper varieties on FDC's, nor do they price anything other than a single. FDC's are typically regarded as being similar to mint stamps in the sense that if they are unaddressed, they are still valid for postage. So, that is why the FDC price in Unitrade is typically slightly more than a mint single. That being the case, what we have done where we have a better paper variety on an FDC is we have taken the Dickinson catalogue value and added the mint value of the paper variety to the FDC price. If there is a pair or a block, we have added the Unitrade value of the extra stamps to the Dickinson cover price.
