Lot 100 Canada #232 2c Brown King George VI, 1937-1942 Mufti issue, A F/VF December 1938 Domestic Cover Franked With Illegal Bisect, Paying the 1c Printed Matter Rate
A F/VF December 1938 domestic cover of the 2c brown King George VI from the 1937-1942 Mufti issue franked with illegal bisect, paying the 1c printed matter rate. The stamp is tied with a December 23, 1938 Port La Tour, NS split ring cancellation, and the envelope is open, which indicates that it was mailed at the lower 1c printed matter rate, though it is difficult to be certain that this actually passed through the mail system, as there are no backstamps. However, there is no evidence to indicate that it did not. An unusual and interesting item in any event. A couple of light foxing spots on the envelope, which would otherwise be VF. Fine, net est. $10.
Unitrade does not list bisects on cover. Our best estimate of the value is $30.
