A VFNH example of the 40pf multicolored from the 1976 Archeological Discoveries, with faint top bar tagging. Our estimate of the value based on the condition is $15.
The stamps of West Germany from this period are normally tagged with an all over taggant that glow deep, bright yellow. This tagging is normally solid and even, and extends across the entire area of the stamp. The examples offered here are all errors, in the sense that the tagging either only covers part of the stamp, is complete but very weak overall, or is very spotty. Scott does not list these, and I am not sure if Michel does either. We have conservatively estimated them at $15 per lot, based on what similar Canadian errors would sell for. But your guess is as good as ours, as to the value. However, it is clear after going through many hundreds of modern German stamps, that these errors are not common.
