Papua New Guinea #135 10/-Blue Black Map of Papua and New Guinea, 1952-1958 Pictorial Definitive Issue, a VFNH Example of the Cream Paper Printing
A well centered and very fine NH example of the 10/- blue black map stamp from the 1952-1958 pictorial definitive issue, printed on dull fluorescent cream paper.
These stamps were printed by the Reserve Bank of Australia and thus will mirror Australian issues of the period, in terms of the varieties that exist. The printings made before 1956-58 will all be on toned paper, and so all the values should exist thus. The white papers were introduced between 1956 and 1958, and given that the next definitive set does not include values that replace those in this set, it is reasonable to conclude that all values of the set should at least exist on white paper also.
Scott lists this stamp at $55 for VFNH. The stamp offered here grades 80 as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
