Morocco Agencies British Currency #219 (SG#54) 5/- Rose Red, 1919-1924 King George V Seahorse, Overprinted Bradbury Wilkinson Printing, a VF Appearing But Fine Mint NH Example
A very well centered and fine mint NH example of the 5/- rose red Bradbury Wilkinson seahorse stamp from the 1918-1924 issue of Great Britain, which has been overprinted for use in Morocco. The stamp got stuck at one pinpoint spot to something and a tiny thin resulted when it was pulled apart from what it stuck to. So, the grade is reduced from VF to fine and there is no premium for NH, since the gum has now been disturbed.
Gibbons lists this stamp at 55 pounds (approx. $110) for fine mint hinged. In this condition it should still be a $50 stamp. The stamp offered here grades 74 as follows:
Paper freshness: 5/5
Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5
Adjustment for tiny shallow thin: -10 points
