Sold out

Three very fine covers to Germany, all franked with Wilding issues, as follows:

  • November 29, 1963 6d airmail rate, on a decorative Red Cross Centenary envelope, franked with a 6d deep claret Wilding.
  • November 1, 1961 6d printed matter rate, franked with 3d, 2.5d and 1/2d Wildings.
  • July 15, 1958 6d surface rate, paid with 3 x 1/2d , 3 x 1d and 1.5d booklet singles. This is a better franking - 9 low value stamps to make up a low rate.

Our estimate of the value of these covers based on the above factors is $20, as these are both scarce destinations and scarce usages.  To understand how we have assessed these covers and arrived at this estimate and to gain a broader understanding of postal history collecting, I would suggest you read the article linked here. It should clarify the factors that make covers, and this one in particular scarce, and will help you to understand why we have estimated it at this amount.
