Lot 310 Canada #790T10 17c Dark Green Parliament Buildings, 1977-1982 Floral & Environment Issue, A Very Fine NH UL Block of 4 Showing G2aC Tagging Error Shifted Downward, on NF Paper With Invisible Tagging

A very fine NH UL corner block of 4 of the 17c dark green parliament buildings stamp from the 1977-1982 Floral & Environmental issue, showing a G2aC tagging error, with one single tag bar toward the left side of the stamp that is shifted slightly downward, so that the top of the bars do not quite reach the top of the selvedge. Printed on NF paper.

Although not specifically mentioned in Unitrade, the parliament stamps are found with three distinct tagging strengths:

  • invisible, where the stamp appears to be untagged.
  • light tagging, where the tagging bars appear visible but not dark, being a light yellowish cream.
  • dark tagging, in which the bands appear deep brownish yellow, and are very obvious on the stamps.

The vast majority of 17c stamps that I see have invisible tagging, and indeed the stamp offered here is this type.

The Adminware database lists a single of the normal G2aC tagging error at $25 per stamp, so this block should be worth at least $100. The stamp offered here grades 75 as follows:

    Margins/centering: 45/70

    Paper freshness: 5/5

    Color: 5/5

    Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

    Perforations: 10/10
