Canada #616 8c Multicoloured 1973 Joseph Howe Issue, A Very Fine NH Example Showing the Green Background Variety
A well centered and very fine NH mint example of the 8c multicoloured 1973 Joseph Howe Issue showing the striking "green background" variety. There is no evidence of any chemical alteration, but I believe the green colour results from the oxidation of the gold ink. However, I have never seen one like this before, but have only seen examples where the colour is still gold, but has a greenish undertone. A very striking variety, no matter how it has come about.
Unitrade does not list this variety, but I estimate the value to be $15.
